Hi! My name is Irantzu Suberviola...
… and I am originally from Bilbao, Spain. After living in a few different places, my life adventures took me to Germany. So since 2012, I am a happy Heidelberg citizen.
I started tinkering with design when I was still in college, with a computer that was bigger than my entire backpack but on which Photoshop 5.5 worked great. Since then the path through UX/UI-Web design has been challenging at times, but always fun and enriching.
Do you want to know a little bit more?
Here are 7 (+2) things about me:
1. I enjoy creating. And I like harmonious, minimalistic websites. Those that you kind of land on and are just exactly what you were looking for. And they are also pretty
2. I like to put myself in the shoes of the user. What would I do on this website? What would I look out for, what would I appreciate? Immersive design is a powerful tool.
3. I am a bit of an Allrounder: I am a designer in core, but I do have a title in arts, formal training in graphic design and have done all kinds of trainings in front and backend development. I can start with the design, do it with “Pen and Paper” or use Adobe to illustrate it. Oh, and I can also program it 🙂
4. If I don’t know how to do something, I find a way to do it. Google, some patience and tenacity are your friends. Well, and stackoverflow too 😉
5. I can work with all kinds of Frameworks: I have worked with many different frameworks (PHP-based, Javascript-based, wordpress… you name it). As long as I have access to the Stylesheets and Scripts, I can change the “Look and Feel” and some of the functionalities too!
6. I know my way around the backend: a new function? a new variable? MySQL database? No problem! By no means am I a pure Backend-Developer, but I do speak the Backend language.
7. I speak the “responsive” and ”accessibility” language: clean, neat, cross-Device, user-friendly and for everyone. That’s the way I work. That’s the way I like it.
7+1. I can work & learn fast: if there’s a deadline, here’s what I will do: focus, work hard and get it done. Deadlines are a challenge and I like them. “Done over perfect” is my mantra. Then go back and optimise.
7+2. I love nature and simple things: hiking, biking, geocaching…if it’s outside, it’s for me! Brings me joy, fun and peace when I need it. As well as handmade things.
